Każdy z nas ma inne upodobania. Nie urządzamy swoich mieszkań dokładnie odwzorowując mieszkanie znajomych. Chcemy, by nasz dom był tylko nasz i dlatego to ważne, byśmy odpowiednio dobrali różne szczegóły takie jak: meble, kolor ścian, dywan czy dekorację. Pokój urządzony w dziesięciu stylach naraz będzie sprawiał wrażenie zabałaganionego wnętrza. Możemy nawet źle się w nim czuć widząc, że coś w nim nie gra, jeśli chodzi o wygląd.
Nie sposób opisać tutaj wszystkich rodzajów stylów. Zajmiemy się więc głównie stylem skandynawskim i prowansalskim.
Przypuśćmy, że jesteś amatorem wnętrz w stylu skandynawskim. Są one raczej w chłodnych i jasnych barwach. Głównie będzie to biel, szarość i odcienie brązu. Wnętrza będą przestronne oraz dobrze doświetlone (okna bez żadnych zasłon), a podłoga w kolorze naturalnego drewna. Meble przeważnie w prostych geometrycznych kształtach. Do takiego wnętrza mogą pasować tapety tego typu:

Teraz kolej na wnętrze w stylu prowansalskim. Cechuje się ono meblami z litego lub postarzanego drewna. Niektóre szafki mogą być ozdobione florystycznymi wzorami. Wnętrza wypełniają dodatki takie jak dzbanki, wazy, doniczki i pudełka zdobione roślinnymi motywami, często motywem lawendy, która kojarzy się nam właśnie z Prowansją. Prowansalskie wnętrze ocieplają pikowane narzuty i poduchy z haftami. Styl prowansalski to połączenie elegancji z nawiązaniem do wiejskich krajobrazów. Prowansja to również kamienne domy, dlatego we wnętrzu będzie można także znaleźć elementy nawiązujące do tej tradycji. Do ścian pomalowanych w pastelowych odcieniach różu, żółtego, błękitu i fioletu oraz bieli, mogą pasować także tapety, którymi okleimy jedną lub kilka ścian. Mogą one wyglądać na przykład tak:
